When did you start?
Madina the designer started way back in the 90s but Madina the product designer started in 2011. That's when I launched with the popular GoldenEra of HipHop Stamp design. I've slowly been building the business since.

A stamp is a distinctive mark or impression made upon something. The 'Golden Era' design honors the kings and queens of hip-hop who propelled the genre from humble beginnings in the block parties in New York to the global phenomenon we see today. So if you thought 'most of my heroes don't appear on no stamps' a few words of advice 'Don't believe the hype'.
Where did you get name Madina?
Madina is a nickname given to me by friends. The nickname kinda derived from a combination of my surname and a certain Tone Loc song from the late 80's.
What else can you tell me about Madina?
I started out listening to HipHop when I was at Primary school that's where it started with Breakin. Then came graf I was pretty good at drawing so had a slight edge compared to some of those around me.
After that I studied art and listened to what became known as 'GoldenEra' hip-hop I regularly collected tunes with my friend DJ MR Thing who went on to win the DMC Championships along with his crew The Scratch Perverts.
I loved hip-hop music it inspired my artwork through college. I wanted to get back to that mind space so I decided to grab rappers and fans attention with my designs. I've been contacted by Chuck D, Kool Keith, Maseo and others who are all keen to work with me

What printing process do you use when printing a tee and the brand of tee you use?
I use different processes for printing depending on the design both Direct to Garment and Screen printing.
DTG is best for more photographic like images the ink is less heavy on the tee which means it will fade after time. Screen printing is great for flat colours I use a halftone technique for gradients – the ink is less likely to fade. Depending on the coverage screen prints can feel more noticeable when wearing.
I started out using of Fruit Of The Loom tees but now use mostly Continental or Earth Positive.
What can someone expect when ordering a product from you?
Madina products are exclusive products they are not mass produced. I have taken pride in each product all the way from conceptualisation through to it's presentation
