Some people say InkOne is really a machine, when he speaks its often in zeros and ones,I heard he bleeds, this is from the ninjas he is often fending attacks from so he cant be a machine.
Others call him an alien, i really don't know why, the last alien incident was in Roswell 1947. Someone that old could not possibly come up with "shirts that are so good they make you wanna slap your mom". All I know someone who designs shirts this cool must be more than just an ordinary man.
Today we have a special interview, with a designer who is responsible for a lot of my favorite designs. I contacted him some time ago regarding an interview and I was amazed when he said yes!
Can you start by giving some background about yourself? Where you are from? What is your background? How did you get into design?
I am inkOne and my real name is Magnus Cumberbunn. But some people call me Carlos. I am a graphic designer from Hollywood, Florida. I love green apples, the crust on my sandwiches, I sit with my back against a wall in a restaurant so as to never be surprised if I am attacked by ninjas. Which happens quite often. Am i fairly new to the scene, and I have been designing for a few years. But steadily designing tshirts for only the last 5 months.
Your new design is being featured on shirtpunch, What is the inspiration for this design? Are you trying to convey anything in this or any of your designs? Any extra background information?
Yes of course, I am a huge fan of the Alien franchise, and I loved Drive. Ripley is the true hero. I actually sat on the design for a few weeks, before I finally decided it was time to finish it.
When you create a new t shirt design, what is sort of process do you follow?
Lots of phone calls to my buddy Rob aka "Database" aka "Yellow Rice & Lentels" and my good friend Alex of Playful Gorilla aka "Lord of the Ricans".
I generally discuss my ideas aloud with them, see if they think its a worthy idea. I never sketch anything anymore, which is a bad thing because I use to draw a lot. But they ideas are all done in my head. I create everything in illustrator and photoshop. Once I start I don't stop until it is finished. I consume 2 green apples,14 Triscuit crackers and 6 water bottles during this process while listening to hip hop. Lots of bonethugs n harmony.
Looking at your own portfolio what is your favourite design and why?
I love all my designs, but my babies have to be "Shredded" my first print and any of my tmnt prints really.
I hated drawing my "Supreme Being" design of Davros, Daleks are so tedious to draw, but the end result was dope.
What current projects are you working on now? And can we get a exclusive peek?
I am actually working on a few Star Wars designs, because I've been getting a huge request to do Boba Fett in my style.

Where do you see yourself in 10 years?
