Welcome To A Brand New Geek Shirts HQ T Shirt Brand Undressed Interview
..Where you bring you what does on behind the t shirt brands.
This week, Geek Shirts HQ special guest is a new daily tee site from Italy, at the time of writing they are yet to launch but you can vote for some of their designs over at their site now.Tee Tee is actually a site with a new tee every 3 days.Still yet to launch, they are already causing a bit of a stir in the world of on line daily tee sites.I got a chance to interview Michael, to find out more about this new Italian daily tee site.
Geek Shirts welcomes Tee Tee…The latest brand to get undressed.
Can you start by giving some background about yourself?
Of course! I’m Michael, 29 years old from Parma, Italy. Actually not exactly Parma, but really close to. I studied Communication Sciences, wrote for various magazines, organized/promoted events.
My partner, Alessio, is 29 too, and works as a graphic designer for a big advertising company based in Parma.
Where you are from?
Borgo Val di Taro, a little town close to Parma with 7000 inhabitants. In Italy it is known as the capital of “porcini mushrooms”.
Alessio is from Pontremoli, a tuscan town.
Both of us, anyway, live in Parma.

Why did you start a daily/weekly tee site instead of a ‘regular’ t shirt brand?
I’ve always been a huge fan of websites like TeeFury or Ript, i’ve always appreciated the idea of a super-limited edition t-shirt with an ongoing countdown.
Plus, a tee-a-day website gives you the opportunity to keep the costs low since you don’t have to print the tees before, while with a classic t-shirt website you always need the tees in stock.
Something like Tee Tee doesn’t exist in Italy, although we a huge presence of a nerd community.
Where did you get Tee Tee?
Actually there’s no story behind the name… Basically, when i created all of this (back in 2010, time flies uh?!) i tried to find a brand name which involved the word “tee” but was not used yet. The first that came to my mind was Tee Tee, and it stayed like that forever.
Can you tell me more about the brand Tee Tee?
Well, we’ll simply try to our best to make our customers happy. And obviously the designers, without which we could not even exist.
Designers will be given one euro for every tee sold, plus a free tee.
We want a customer to be happy to buy on Tee Tee, and a designer glad to submit.
What makes Tee Tee different from other similar daily/weekly tee shirt sites?
Apart from the fact that we are based in Italy, differently from the american websites we have a Vote section whose function is fundamental.
We will be really community oriented, we’ll try to do our best to keep our users (so-called TeeTeezens) satisfied.
The Vote section, who knows why, seems to be a european tradition.
We also have some other ideas but… we’ll reveal them later on.
What is your USP?
We are italians, but i don’t know how much this can count.
We will try to be as much community oriented as possible, in order to really give people the opportunity to choose what we should print.
How does a designer get to feature their design on your site?
The procedure is easy: you just have to go on www.TeeTee.eu , sign up, head over to the Upload section and send your design.
We’ll receive it on our control panel, will check if it’s OK (colours etc) and finally we’ll put it up for voting.
At that point, it will also be up to the designer to promote his/her design on Tee Tee!
Who are your favourite designers that hope to feature on your site?
There are many designers that we do appreciate a lot, but we prefer not to name them. During these first weeks of activity with Tee Tee we already had the opportunity to know fantastic people, and it’s great to collaborate with artists which come from anywhere in the world.
Sometimes i contact designers thinking that they are foreigners (since their websites are entirely in english), but then i find out that they are italians. I find it funny.
As a brand how much importance do you put on marketing on social media sites such as Twitter or Facebook?
To say that Facebook is fundamental is not enough. Most of the artists that joined Tee Tee have been contacted via Facebook.
Facebook is gonna be the heart of our marketing, we hope to manage to have a big fanbase.
We don’t love Twitter, but we know its importancy. We do have a profile and we’ll always keep it updated.
The idea, anyway, is to slowly integrate other social networks such as Google+.
When do you launch and what do you have planned?
The first countdown ever has just started, and it will last for a month. The first tee ever will be sold in mid may. We decided to do this in order to let people choose the first designs we should print, and to avoid starting without a following.
After that, we’ll sell a new tee every 72 hours.
Where do you see yourself in 10 years both for yourselves and your business?
It’s always so hard to think about the future…
I don’t know where i will be. But i do know what i’d like to be: co-founder of a successfull tee-a-day website that sells one new tee a day, instead of every 3.
When getting your apparel printed what is the process that you prefer?
We only screen print our tees, no digital printing. Really better quality and longlasting. I have some tees printed back in 2007 for a basketbal tournament which i created in my city that today, 500 washings later, are still perfect.
What brands of apparel do you prefer to print on?
We would really like to use American Apparel, but for us italians it’s really too expensive.
We only use high quality, 100% cotton t-shirts, weighing between 140 and 155 gramms.
What would a customer expect when ordering a product from you?
First of all a confirmation e-mail 😀
Then to receive the t-shirt ordered within the times declared on Tee Tee.
If anything should go wrong, our team will be happy to answer any question.
What happens after a customer places an order?
Obviously we’ll have to sum up all the orders received during the 3 days, then we’ll produce the tees. The tees will be ready for shipment in 6 working days.
That’s when we’ll ship them to Europe and one day, hopefully, to the entire world.
We don’t have customized bags, but every single bag will be hand stamped from the Tee Tee staff. Old school! 😀
When will they receive their tee?
It depends on where they live. In Italy 3 working days should be enough, while in Europe 4 days.
Anyone you want to give a shout out to?
To all the designers who decided to join Tee Tee, a huge THANK YOU. Without them we could not even try to create all of this.
Is there anything else you want to add?
Nothing in particular. We would like to thank all the people who believed in us and that, now that we started, are somehow trying to help us.
And thank you too, Asim. We’ll do our best not to disappoint anyone.
Where is the best place to find your designs and buy some of your shirts? And of course get in contact with you
Of course www.TeeTee.eu
Right now you can not buy t-shirts, but you can choose which design should be the first ever to be printed!
The best way to get in touch with us is to click on the Contact us link on Tee Tee, or to write something on our Fb page.
We would even like to invite anyone reading this interview to check out our website and our Facebook page
