Welcome to a new Brand Alert from a clothing brand from the south of England.
The name of this new brand is Atonal  and I caught with this cool brand for an interview and find out more about them.

Why did you start Atonal?

I started Atonal because I was getting frustrated by seeing look alike designs in high street fashion. One thing I really hate is to go down my local pub and find someone wearing the same t shirt as me. So I wanted to start something small with unique designs to give others the opportunity to not get caught in the high street fashion trap.

When did you start?

We’ve been building this up via social media for a couple of months now..

Where are you based?

We’re based in Ashford, Middlesex near Staines, UK.

This was my first design and to date is still our best seller.

Where did you get name ?

Atonal is a musical term which describes music written with disregard for key. I felt that the word was in keeping with my ethos of not always wanting to look and be different to everyone else and not always sticking to the rule book. Music has always been a huge part of my life. I’ve played in many bands over the years so I wanted to choose a musical term for that reason too.

What else can you tell me about Atonal ?

I design all the tshirts myself. I’ve never been trained as a graphic designer but I’ve always had a keen eye for design and photography. Until recently I worked for another clothing brand called ‘Down But Not Out’ which is owned by Josh Franceschi from the band You Me At Six. My time with them really inspired me to do this and left me with a good knowledge of what people want to see on a t shirt!

What printing process do you use when printing a tee and the brand of tee you use?

At the moment we use the DTG “Direct to garment” method. This means we can print each t shirt on demand and without having to buy a huge load of pre printed stock.
We started out using the Continental No3 t shirts which are fantastic as they’re unbranded and are seriously good quality but since we’ve changed suppliers we’re now printing on Gildan Soft Style Ringspun Cotton tees, which are again, great quality and many printers feel they get the best results from those.

What can someone expect when ordering a product from you?

When ordering from www.ATONAL.co.uk you can expect to receive a great tee with A3 size design that you can almost guarantee you’ll not see anyone else wearing.. (In a good way!! Haha)

What plans have you got for the future?

Well, I’m just going to keep on designing as many tees as possible and hope you guys like them, there are no ambitions for world domination here. I’m just happy enjoying the creative process. Plus it’s a massive buzz selling something I’ve made from scratch! And if I can make a tiny bit of pocket money out of it in the meantime, then that’s great too.
